Shares of Dell Inc. fell nearly 5 percent after reporting fourth quarter results. The company’s net income declined to $764 million (43 cents per share), compared to $927 million (48 cents per share) a year earlier.
Herbalife Ltd. shares jumped 3.75 percent after the closing bell. The nutritional company reported fourth quarter net income of $105.4 million (86 cents per share), compared to $86.3 million (69 cents per share) a year earlier. “The momentum in our business continued throughout 2011 as we set new records in net sales, earnings per share, and free cash flow,” said Michael O. Johnson, the company’s chairman and CEO.

Brocade Communications Systems Inc. surged 5.4 percent in late trading. The company reported that fourth quarter net income more than doubled from the previous year. Revenue also increased 2.7 percent to $560.6 million, beating the average estimate of $542.4 million.
After closing .24 percent higher, shares of Intuit Inc. increased 3 percent in extended trading. The company reported a 61.6 percent increase in fourth quarter earnings. Furthermore, revenue increased 16.1 percent to $1.02 billion from the year-earlier quarter.
Rex Energy Corp. shares dropped 5.2 percent in late trading. The company reported a fourth quarter loss of $3.1 million (7 cents per share), and also missed revenue estimates.

Shares of Chesapeake Energy Corp. remained volatile after the closing bell. The natural gas giant reported first quarter profits of $429 million (63 cents per share), compared to $180 million (28 cents per share) a year earlier.
