Winners:
Barnes & Noble, Inc. (BKS): Up 61.3% — Microsoft and Barnes & Noble have teamed up for a project involving educational books, which has caused Barnes & Noble's stock to skyrocket.
Conceptus, Inc. (CPTS) : Up 26.8% — After settling a patent infringement with Hologic, Conceptus has had a great day in the market, up nearly 30%.
Sunoco, Inc (SUN): Up 19.6% — Pipeline operator Energy Transfer Partners (ETP) has announced it will acquire Sunoco for $5.3 billion, which has caused Sunoco's stock to shot up nearly 20%.
Losers:
VeriFone Systems, Inc (PAY): Down 12.5% — Deutsche Bank downgraded VeriFone and the stock has subsequently tumbled.
Tenneco, Inc (TEN): Down 12.6% —Tenneco's profits fell 36% due to refinancing charges, which has caused it's stock to drop over 1/8 of it's total price.
Hologic, Inc (HOLX): Down 9.6% — After agreeing to buy Gen-Probe Inc for $3.7 billion, Hologic has seen it's stock drop nearly 10%.
