7 Rumors About Apple's Next-Generation iPhone

For 5 years now, tech giant Apple Inc (AAPL) has held a huge event around the month of September to announce new products, specifically the next-generation iPhone. This year will be no different. Thanks to teasing hints from the company’s “intelligent assistant” Siri, users were informed of only one thing about the event: that it would be held on September 9.

Since the iPhone is Apple’s reigning juggernaut, it will be the inevitable major talking point of the annual keynote event.  Here’s a look at what we know about the much anticipated upcoming iPhone:

1. Just like the unveiling of the 5S, the next-generation iPhone will be the 6S and 6S Plus.

2. Both phones are expected to be slightly thicker, possibly to make room for new elements, to strengthen bending-prone areas, or to switch to the tougher aluminum of the Apple Watch.

3. Pressure sensitivity, dubbed Force Touch, is an anticipated new feature. Like the aluminum base, Force Touch was also introduced as part of the Apple Watch. It allows detection of pressure being applied to the device.

4. There will be a new, quicker processor, and allegedly a jump up to 2GB of Ram.

5. A 12-megapixel rear camera is also to be expected, with the ability to shoot 4K video. The front camera is getting a boost, too. It’s believed to increase to a 5-megapixel camera with an accompanying flash.

6. There may also be a new color offering: rose gold. First seen on the Apple Watch, the 6S and 6S Plus could very well be seen in this new shade. It’s important to note that the phones will be aluminum, not actual gold.

7. Pricing and storage tiers should be the same as the original 6 and 6 Plus. The 6S is as follows: $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 64GB model, and $399 for the 128GB model. The 6S Plus should be $100 more in each tier.
