8 Boldest Rides of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Boldride

That’s a wrap folks- this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show is officially in the books. But not before it dished out some of the sexiest new cars for the world to see. Jag, Audi, Porsche- just to name a few. Here’s the 8 boldest rides that took to the stage last week:

If you were to describe Audi’s latest concept car in two words, they would be: yellow and powerful. And that’s because it was indeed very yellow and very powerful. 700 horses came from under the hood, and met with an impressive 94 mpg via a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged hybrid V8. For now it’s just a concept, but who knows, Audi says it might actually put this monster into production.

Easily the most talked about ride of the whole show season- BMW finally gave the public its first glimpse of the i8 in the flesh. All 362 horses and 94 mpg of it. BMW hopes that alongside the i3, the i8 will be a step in the new direction of sustainable mobility.

OK, sure, hybrids are cool and everything. But when you get down to it, the one thing that’s really going to turn some heads is a 700-hp, six-wheel drive monster of a G-Wagen. That’s where Brabus comes in. They managed to transform the standard (if you can even call it that) Mercedes 6×6 into an even more sinister, luxury wagen for the ages.

Ferrari 458 Speciale

There were a few special rides making a debut in Frankfurt, but one was a bit more “speciale” than the rest. The Ferrari 458 Speciale- with 597 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 3.0 seconds, it was sure to catch the spotlight.

Jaguar took a big step this year with the introduction of its first-ever SUV– at least, a concept of which. So far, not much has been dished out regarding the blue beauty, but we don’t doubt Jag will give us some sweet details in the near future.

Like Ferrari, Lamborghini made sure that it had something equally pretty and powerful for the press to gawk over come Frankfurt. Thus, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse was born, a 570-hp, $259K stunning example of a supercar.

The fastest production car ever around the Nürburgring– how’s that for a bold statement? The Porsche 918 Spyder made itself known in concept form earlier in the year, but it wasn’t until Frankfurt did we see this stunning 887-hp hypercar in the flesh.

Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept

420 horsepower. In a Yaris. That’s right- the dark horse of the auto show comes in the form of Toyota’s Yaris Hybrid-R Concept, which is the very definition of a hot hatch. Production? We doubt it, but it very well may be a precursor to some high-powered hybrid systems Toyota could utilize in the future.
