FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Florida Turkish American Association (FTAA) is pleased to present a day of Turkish music, dance, art and culture at the 8th Annual Turkish Festival on Sunday, November 15th from 10:00AM to 6:00PM at the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk. The Festival is free of charge and open to the general public.
The festival’s highlights will include a variety of authentic Turkish cultural activities, including the Kardelen Dance Ensemble performing Turkey’s famous traditional and distinctive dances. Turkish recording artists will be flown in from Turkey especially for the festival, and live belly dancers will grace the Broadwalk.
The festival also will offer delicious Turkish fare available for purchase, such as doner kebap (rotating roast), grilled kofte (ground meat with spices), borek (cheese and spinach filled pastry), baklava and Turkish coffee, to name a few of the delicacies. There will even be traditional fortune tellers reading fortunes from coffee grinds in the special coffee tent. Other free activities include a children’s area with face painting, balloon sculpting and arts and crafts, making this a family affair. The sights, sounds, activities and gourmet delicacies will leave festival goers feeling as if they’ve been transported to Istanbul or Ankara. Attending the festival is the next best thing to actually traveling to Turkey and experiencing it firsthand. To that end, representatives from the Turkish Tourism and Culture Office will be on hand with information on how festival goers can experience Turkey in person.
The purpose of the Festival is to promote Turkey, its rich and diverse culture, and the influences this great culture has had all over the world, all showcased by the proud members of the Florida Turkish American Association. It is the FTAA’s goal that festival goers will get the opportunity to celebrate, learn about and savor Turkish hospitality, culture, heritage and cuisine.
