Acacia Research, Aerogroup reach settlement

Acacia Research subsidiary, Aerogroup Retail reach settlement on patent

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- An Acacia Research Corp. subsidiary has reached a settlement with Aerogroup Retail Holdings Inc. on a patent dispute related to credit card fraud protection technology.

Terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

The patent dealt with a computer system used to protect retailers and shoppers during their credit card, check card and debit transactions.

Shares of Acacia Research, which buys and licenses patents, added 13 cents to $8.83 in afternoon trading.
