Actel forecasts 3Q sales flat to up 3 percent, no change in gross margin guidance

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (AP) -- Actel Corp. said Tuesday its third-quarter revenue will be flat to up 3 percent compared with a year ago, when the company reported sales of $53.2 million.

The move narrows Actel's previous sales guidance, which ranged between a decline of 2 percent and an increase of 4 percent. The midpoint of the forecast is now up half a percentage point to 1.5 percent.

The company, which makes power-management components used in the aerospace, automotive, medical and other industries, said it still expects a gross profit margin of 56 or 57 percent and a tax rate of 30 percent.

In the year-ago period, Actel reported gross margin of 58 percent.

Shares rose 16 cents to close regular trading at $11.77, then slipped 16 cents in the extended session.
