SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- Agilent Technologies Inc. said Wednesday it would sell an undisclosed number of senior notes in part to fund acquisitions.
The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company did not say what the principal amount of the notes would be.
Besides general corporate expenses, the scientific instruments and equipment maker said the proceeds possibly would be used for its acquisition of Varian Inc. The funds could also be used for other acquisitions, working capital, capital expenditures and share buybacks.
Barclays Capital, Citigroup Global Markets and Credit Suisse Securities are joint bookrunning managers.
Agilent shares rose 35 cents to $26.76 in morning trading.
