CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) -- Alkermes Inc. said Tuesday that a drug for addiction and nervous system disorders met its goal in two early stage clinical trials.
The company said it plans to start a midstage study of the drug before the end of this year. The product is designated ALKS 33 and is intended to block opioid receptors, and Alkermes said those receptors are involved in gastrointestinal and immune disorders, pain, addiction, and psychiatric illness.
In morning trading, Alkermes shares rose 1 cent to $8.60.
