Alliant Techsystems gets $25 million contract

Alliant Techsystems receives $25 million contract from Army to provide ammunition

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Defense and ammunition company Alliant Techsystems Inc. received a $25 million contract from the U.S. Army to provide ammunition for the AH-64D Apache attack helicopter.

This adds to an $86 million base award Alliant announced in July.

Work will begin in March 2011 at facilities in Virginia and West Virginia.

Alliant employs more than 18,000 people nationwide and abroad.

Shares of the company rose 85 cents to $76.52.
