American Ecology names new chief executive
American Ecology says CEO will leave Dec. 31, names president and COO his replacement

BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- American Ecology Corp., a waste services company, said Thursday its CEO will step down when his employment contract runs out at the end of the year.
Stephen Romano, 55, will step down on Dec. 31. He will be replaced by James R. Baumgardner, 46, currently president and chief operating officer.
Baumgardner was the company's senior vice president and CFO from 1999 until 2006. Between 2006 and 2008, he was senior vice president and CFO of Secor International Inc., an environmental firm. He returned to American Ecology in 2009 as president and chief operating officer.
Shares rose 2 cents to $19.34 during midday trading.
