NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- AmSurg Corp., operator of outpatient surgery centers, said Thursday its third-quarter profit rose 11 percent on a boost in revenue from centers opened in late 2008.
AmSurg earned $13.8 million, or 45 cents per share, compared with profit of $12.4 million, or 38 cents per share, during the same period a year prior. Revenue rose 11 percent to $167.9 million from $150.7 million, mainly in contributions from 19 new centers opened since the end of the third quarter of 2008, the company said.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected profit of 43 cents per share on revenue of $167.7 million.
Looking ahead, the company said it expects full-year profit of $1.70 to $1.71 per share on revenue between $660 million and $680 million. Analysts expect profit of $1.71 per share on revenue of $669.8 million.
Shares of Amsurg rose 49 cents to close at $23.19.
