TYSONS CORNER, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cardinal Bank (NASDAQ:CFNL - News) announced today that the Cardinal Bank Community Fund has awarded $10,000 to the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University to benefit the Hylton Performing Arts Center. This gift will provide funding for the construction of a world-class performance and rehearsal venue for major touring artists, local performers and community-based arts groups. The Hylton Performing Arts Center is slated to open in spring 2010.

Christopher Bergstrom, President of Cardinal Bank, and Todd Hewitt, Executive Vice President, made the check presentation to William F. Reeder, Dean, College of Visual and Performing Arts and Jean Kellogg, Executive Director for the Hylton Performing Arts Center. Cardinal Bank’s signature charitable event, the Cardinal Classic, provided the start-up funding to establish the Cardinal Bank Community Fund with proceeds from their annual golf and tennis tournament.

“The Cardinal Bank Community Fund represents one of the many ways in which Cardinal supports the communities we serve, and seeks to strengthen worthy programs and organizations that focus primarily on arts and humanities, education, healthcare, and children,” said Christopher Bergstrom, President of Cardinal Bank. “We are delighted to collaborate with the University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts to help support this valuable addition to the performance venues available in Manassas and the greater Prince William communities, and also advance Cardinal’s mission of cultivating creativity and innovation in the arts.”
