POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- The parent of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. said Wednesday that president Carl E. Meyer would retire from Central Hudson Dec. 31 and be succeeded by James P. Laurito.
CH Energy Group Inc., the parent company, said Laurito would become executive vice president of the holding company and the utility on Nov. 1 before taking Meyer's spot.
Laurito was president of the New York State Electric and Gas Corp. and Rochester Gas and Electric Corp. between 2003 and 2009.
Meyer has been president and chief operating officer of Central Hudson for 10 years and joined the company in 1970 as a junior engineer.
Central Hudson serves 300,000 electric customers and 74,000 natural gas customers.
Shares of CH Energy rose 62 cents to $43.90.
