Chameleon Branded Entertainment Announces the Launch of Mërge, an International Script-to-Screen Competition, Dedicated to Highlighting Multicultural Experiences in the Ever Converging Global Environment

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chameleon Branded Entertainment, has announced the launch of Mërge, an international script-to-screen competition, dedicated to highlighting multicultural experiences in the ever converging global environment. The contest’s goal is to bring accounts of international and multicultural stories to the forefront of mainstream international audiences. Mërge 2009 focuses on the Russian multicultural experience.

Submissions will be accepted online at mergefest.com from March 6th to May 30th, 2009. Special attention will be paid to scripts that explore the themes related to interaction between cultures, immigration, assimilation in a foreign country, expatriate life, and other similar issues. Submissions are accepted in both English and Russian. The winner will receive a prize of $5,000 and have their script adapted into a feature length motion picture. The best five scripts will be published as a compilation book.

“Unlike most screenwriting competitions where winners receive diplomas and sometimes monitory prizes, Mërge will actually culminate with a production of a full-length movie,” said Yan Vizinberg, Executive Producer of Chameleon Branded Entertainment. “We’ll be aspiring to create a film with a multicultural theme that will also interest mainstream audiences, similar to LOST IN TRANSLATION, MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING or THE HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG.”

Mërge will be launched at a kick-off event in New York City on March 6th.
