Asian Service Provider Offers Business-Critical Enterprise Telephony Services with Acme Packet Session Border Controllers
BURLINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Acme Packet® (NASDAQ: APKT - News), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced that Chief Telecom, a subsidiary of Chunghwa Telecom (NYSE:CHT - News), the largest service provider of integrated wired and wireless communications in Taiwan, has deployed the Acme Packet Net-Net® session border controllers (SBCs) to offer advanced, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based enterprise VoIP services throughout the island.
Chief Telecom has deployed Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs for their IMS-based, enterprise solution, which includes SIP trunking, IP-Centrex, audio conferencing, video telephony, voice mail and messaging services. Acme Packet’s SBCs also secure and connect Chief Telecom’s Microsoft MSN VoIP service for consumers with its international peering network. Chief’s Telecom’s parent company, CHT, has used Acme Packet’s SBCs for more than four years as part of its IMS-based, fixed-line residential and mobile VoIP, and international SIP peering services.
The Acme Packet Net-Net SBCs session admission control functions allow Chief Telecom to provide high-quality VoIP and interactive multimedia services with assured SLAs for its business customers and service provider peering partners. Acme Packet’s SIPconnect Compliant® Net-Net SBCs also enable interoperability with IMS core infrastructure equipment and a wide array of IP-enabled customer-premise devices, enabling Chief Telecom to easily accommodate its business customers’ disparate IP telephony infrastructure and changes within its own network. Acme Packet’s SBCs also provide redundancy for Chief Telecom’s IMS service infrastructure with load balancing, routing and disaster recovery features. In addition, Acme Packet’s Net-SAFE® capabilities secure Chief Telecom’s IMS service elements by performing access control, topology hiding and denial of service (DoS/DDoS) protection from malicious attacks and non-malicious overloads.
“Acme Packet’s Net-Net SBCs are key elements in ensuring our network’s security and quality of service,” said the Senior Director of the Telecommunications Service Department, Enterprise VoIP Solution, for Chief Telecom. “In addition to providing ease of interoperability with many other IP-PBX vendors’ equipment, Acme Packet’s SBCs also provide comprehensive security and control features to our enterprise customers.”
“Chief Telecom is delivering innovative, telecommunication services to over 20 million customers in Taiwan, including business-critical applications and services to complex enterprise environments,” said Seamus Hourihan, vice president of product management and marketing for Acme Packet. “Acme Packet’s SBCs play a pivotal role in helping solve the challenges that Chief Telecom faces in delivering high-quality, IMS-based, IP communication services to both its enterprise and residential customers.”
