OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Schmitt Music at the Rosana Square Shopping Center in Overland Park will host legendary KC Chiefs star Curtis McClinton and Steinway piano virtuoso William DeVan. There will be 3 presentations offered free to the public. There will also be door prizes for attendees. Children and Adults are invited.

Dr. McClinton scored the first touchdown ever in a Super Bowl against the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl I. His greatest honor was "blocking and defending Lenny Dawson" according to McClinton himself. Lamar Hunt described him as "a tremendous contributor during our glory years." Since retiring from football, he has continued to succeed in public service and private business and has been an inspirational presence among the youth in and out of sports in the Kansas City area. Despite his reputation as a ferocious competitor, his narration of "The Story of Babar" will not include any blocking and tackling of children or parents present. Just in case: sit back!

In 2002, Mr. DeVan pioneered a series of concerts entitled "Classics for Children," which he has been performing with huge success for children nationwide. Mr. DeVan not only plays the classics, he engages the children in a lively, interactive discussion about the various aspects of the music and the Steinway piano.

The 3 free events take place Friday, November 6th at 4:30 pm and at 7 pm and on Saturday, November 7th at 11 am.

Friday at 4:30 pm - "Classics for Children" (Recital & Discussion). William DeVan performs the classics and engages his young audience to get "up close and personal" with the music and the piano. The conversation is as lively as the music.

Friday at 7 pm- "Virtuoso Favorites" (Recital & Discussion). The "Virtuoso" is a musician who is the consummate master of both technique and artistry. Experience this mastery in an intimate and relaxed setting as Mr. DeVan presents a program of classical favorites including "Chaconne," the first movement of Beethoven's Sonata Op. 2, #3, Etudes by Chopin and Liszt, and the "Fugue" from Barber's "Sonata."

Saturday at 11am- Francis Poulenc's "The Story of Babar" is performed by William DeVan, piano, and KC Chief Hall of Famer and local treasure Curtis McClinton, narrator. This promises to be a charming and delightful experience for all ages.

All performances are FREE to the public. There will also be door prizes for attendees. For more information visit http://www.schmittmusic.com/William-DeVan-KC.html
