LEBANON, Tenn., Oct. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. continues its close cooperation with law enforcement authorities related to a reprehensible incident at the entrance of the Company's location in Morrow, Georgia. The September 9th incident, in which a guest attacked another guest in the vestibule, was stopped by a Cracker Barrel manager. The police report on this incident contains information about how Cracker Barrel's manager put himself in harm's way to protect the victim within seconds of when the attack started. The police report also contains information about a conversation between the victim and Cracker Barrel's manager directly after that moment of intervention.
Subsequent to the incident, Cracker Barrel spoke at length with the victim to determine her health and well-being from this attack by someone who is not connected with the Company and which violated everything that the Company stands for. The Company has banned the attacker from all of its locations. Cracker Barrel is a restaurant and retail company, plain and simple. This incident has nothing to do with Cracker Barrel and the Company wants a speedy resolution that delivers justice. It could have happened anywhere and Cracker Barrel is dismayed that it happened in the entrance of its building.
Our CEO has reached out to our employees and said that on a personal level he is both angry and saddened that this incident could happen anywhere in this country, let alone our Morrow, GA location, and that he is especially angry that any guest of ours would violate everything that we stand for and work so hard to make happen each and every day.
Cracker Barrel has strong policies and procedures that prohibit violence or discrimination. Embracing and promoting diversity is an important part of Cracker Barrel's business - it's good for our guests and it's good for our employees. Upon hire, all managers and employees receive hospitality training that highlights diversity and inclusion topics, designed to provide sensitivity toward perceptions, as well as provide policy and rules on behavior. This training is updated annually. The Company continually works to evaluate and improve upon our current programs.
Cracker Barrel wants justice to be served quickly and will continue to work closely with law enforcement officials. Again, Cracker Barrel is a restaurant and retail company, pure and simple. This incident has nothing to do with Cracker Barrel and the Company wants a speedy resolution that delivers justice.
