ABILENE, Ohio (AP) -- Low-price retailer Duckwall-ALCO Stores Inc. said Thursday that sales in stores open at least one year edged down 0.4 percent in September.
Total sales for the five-week period ended Oct. 4 fell less than 1 percent to $41.5 million.
Year-to-date, sales in stores open at least one year rose 0.3 percent, while total sales rose 2.5 percent to $312 million.
Sales at stores open at least a year are a key measure of retailer performance because they measure growth at existing stores rather than from newly opened ones.
In morning trading, Duckwall-ALCO shares were unchanged at $17.70.
