EADS North America Donates $75,000 to University of California Berkeley for Information Technology Research

ARLINGTON, VA--(MARKET WIRE)--Jan 14, 2009 -- EADS North America is contributing $75,000 to The University of California at Berkeley's (UC Berkeley) Information Technology Department, to help fund a collaborative cyber information security technology research project.

Beginning in January 2009, faculty and students in UC Berkeley's Science and Technology Department will work with EADS engineers to improve the security for mobile communications networks using an advanced Internet Protocol (IP) cyber-Defense Technology Experimental Research test bed. Research advances in security of the networks could have important applications for fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, UAVs, and other vehicles on the move.

This donation marks another in a series of educational grants and scholarship contributions from EADS North America, totaling more than $400,000 over the past four years. In previous years, EADS North America has contributed research grant money to the Georgia Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and established university scholarships in the states of Florida, Mississippi, and South Carolina.
