BETHESDA, Md. (AP) -- Eagle Bancorp Inc. said Wednesday it plans to sell $40 million in common stock.
Based on Tuesday's closing price of $8.87, Eagle Bancorp will be able to issue about 4.5 million shares of common stock. The regional bank had about 12.8 million shares of common stock outstanding as of Aug. 7.
Eagle Bancorp plans to use the money raised from the stock sale for general corporate purposes, which could include potential acquisitions or repaying debt.
Underwriters will have the option to purchase up to $6 million in additional shares to cover over-allotments.
