Everest Re Group executive to retire

Everest Re Group's vice chairman and chief underwriting officer Gallagher plans to retire

HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) -- Everest Re Group Ltd. said Tuesday that Thomas Gallagher, its vice chairman and chief underwriting officer, will retire effective Oct. 9.

Everest is a Bermuda holding company for several insurers and reinsurers.

Gallagher, 60, took his current posts in 2008 after serving since 1997 as president and chief operating officer.

Shares of Everest rose 18 cents to $84.49 in afternoon trading Tuesday.
