Shares of some top airlines companies were up at the close of trading:
AMR rose $.23 or 4.2 percent, to $5.65.
AirTran rose $.49 or 11.8 percent, to $4.64.
Continental rose $1.03 or 8.8 percent, to $12.77.
DeltaAir rose $.46 or 6.3 percent, to $7.79.
JetBlue rose $.41 or 8.5 percent, to $5.24.
Southwest rose $.29 or 3.5 percent, to $8.65.
UAL rose $.44 or 6.7 percent, to $6.96.
US Airways rose $.24 or 8.1 percent, to $3.19.
