NEW YORK (AP) -- 

Shares of some top coal companies were down at the close of trading:
Arch Coal fell $1.76 or 9.7 percent, to $16.39.
Consol Energy fell $2.74 or 8.6 percent, to $28.97.
Massey Energy fell $1.85 or 11.6 percent, to $14.16.
Peabody Energy fell $2.61 or 9.6 percent, to $24.48.
