Gold companies shares up at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) -- 

Shares of some top gold companies were up at the close of trading:
Barrick Gold rose $1.58 or 5.1 percent, to $32.72.
Gold Fields rose $.24 or 2.9 percent, to $8.38.
Goldcorp rose $.69 or 2.8 percent, to $25.66.
Newmont Mining rose $.09 or .3 percent, to $36.00.
