Gold companies shares down at the close of trading

NEW YORK (AP) -- 

Shares of some top gold companies were down at the close of trading:
Barrick Gold fell $1.21 or 3.7 percent, to $31.51.
Gold Fields fell $.36 or 4.3 percent, to $8.02.
Goldcorp fell $1.35 or 5.3 percent, to $24.31.
Newmont Mining fell $.49 or 1.4 percent, to $35.51.
