BEDMINISTER, N.J., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T* announced today a donation of more than $250,000 to the Patriots' Path Council, serving Boy Scouts of America in northern and central New Jersey. The money is a result of the first annual AT&T NJ Golf Classic which was held at Fiddlers Elbow Country Club in Bedminster and featured appearances by former NY Yankees Joe Pepitone and Lee Mazzilli. Proceeds will be used to support Inner City Scouting programs providing camp scholarships for children living in urban areas and will also fund the cost of a full-time bilingual Program Director for Hispanic communities.

"Without AT&T's efforts like this golf event our programs for local youth would be unable to sustain themselves, leaving thousands without character-building and leadership opportunities in our community," said Joseph Gonnella, Director of Finance Services of the Boy Scouts of America.
"While this is the first of its kind tournament here in New Jersey, AT&T is proud to support programs that offer inner city kids a chance to experience everything Boy Scouts has to offer," said Steve Hodges, Regional President for AT&T in the Northeast. "Helping our youth across our communities is key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society. The Boys Scouts accomplish this by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun."
The Patriots' Path Council each year serves over 20,000 youth members and 7,000 leaders in the counties of Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union and parts of Middlesex County, New Jersey. Some 400 local organizations have a Cub Pack, Scout Troop, Venture Crew, Varsity Team or Explorer Post as a part of their service to youth. The Patriots' Path Council is the largest in New Jersey and the fourth largest on the eastern seaboard. The core objective of the Patriots' Path Council, BSA is to build strong personal values, family values and character in young people by providing program activities that teach, support and encourage such values.
AT&T was the first major donor to step forward with a multi-million dollar contribution and will serve as Scouting's official communications partner during the 100th Anniversary celebration. Feb. 8, 2010 marks 100 years of Scouting in America for one of the country's largest youth-serving organizations. AT&T's Chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson is serving as the national chairman for the 100th Anniversary Celebration and is a member of the Boy Scouts of America national board.
