New innovations in CT
-
Gemstone Spectral Imaging (GSI) for CT: GSI is a dual-energy CT
imaging solution that uses two nearly simultaneous scans (view to
view) at two different energy levels to generate invaluable material
characterization information. As an option for GE’s premium Discovery™
CT750 system, GSI technology enables extremely high sampling rates for
superior high/low energy registration with single-source architecture.
It allows clinicians to clearly and confidently interpret their
findings and issue diagnoses to improve patient care.
-
Collaboration with Veran Medical Technologies for interventional
navigation: A collaboration with Veran Medical Technologies, Inc.,
has resulted in the validation of compatibility between Veran
navigation systems and GE Innova® imaging systems. GE’s imaging system
acquires the patient images and exports them to the Veran system in
the same room, during the same interventional procedure. The clinician
will see the Innova CT image of the patient’s anatomy along with a
virtual needle over the anatomy to be used for navigation during the
procedure to help speed procedures to improve access while enhancing
quality of care.
-
Trial to validate the clinical efficacy of Model Based Iterative
Reconstruction (MBIR): GE is sponsoring a multi-center trial to
validate the clinical efficacy of MBIR as a method to maintain or
improve diagnostic information available to clinicians while
dramatically lowering radiation dose in routine CT imaging. This trial
will use the company’s breakthrough Discovery CT750 HD system, and
demonstrates GE’s efforts to advance the standard of care with
non-invasive lower dose CT imaging technology. MBIR offers the
potential for another leap in resolution and the opportunity to reduce
patient dose, even below the levels of today’s CT scanners.
-
Advanced Applications on Discovery XR640: Advanced applications
offered on the Discovery XR640, including Dual Energy Subtraction,
VolumeRAD™ (digital tomography) and Auto Image Paste have changed the
ways GE customers think about X-ray and how to best use the technology
with their patient populations.
-
Dual Energy Subtraction: Separates soft tissue from bone
information, enabling improved detection and characterization of
nodules masses and bone lesions.
-
VolumeRAD: Provides multiple high-resolution slice images in a
single sweep, removing overlying structures, and reconstructs the
image similarly to a CT.
-
Convergence of therapeutics and diagnostics in molecular medicine: GE
Healthcare simplifies the complexity of radiopharmacy infrastructure
into ONE touch-point solution going beyond equipment technology.
Expanding upon TRACERcenter-GMP’s platform of state-of-the-art
instrumentation, comprehensive documentation and GMP training and
consulting services, GE now offers ONE complete service platform, ONE
single point of contact with world-wide coverage. With the support of
GE Healthcare, the new Quality Assurance and Licensing Packages enable
PET tracer production centers to meet GMP guidelines for successful
application of operational licenses.
