Global Industries gets $70M Brazilian contract

Global Industries gets Brazilian offshore petroleum contract worth about $70 million

CARLYSS, La. (AP) -- Global Industries Ltd. said Wednesday a Brazilian unit received an approximately $70 million contract from Petroleo Brasileiro SA for work on offshore petroleum facilities.

Global Industries said its staff will dive and operate remote-controlled underwater vehicles as well as provide construction services in the Campos, Santos and Espirito Santo basins.

The 180-day contract carries an option for a six month extension.

Shares fell 10 cents to $9.56 in afternoon trading.
