NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Government Properties Income Trust (NYSE: GOV - News) today announced a common share distribution of $0.50 per common share. This distribution includes a regular quarterly distribution of $0.40 per common share ($1.60 per share per year) with respect to the quarter ended September 30, 2009, plus an additional $0.10 reflecting GOV’s first 22 days as a public company during the prior quarter. This dividend will be paid to GOV’s common shareholders of record as of the close of share trading on October 23, 2009 and distributed on or about November 25, 2009.
Government Properties Income Trust is a real estate investment trust, or REIT, which owns properties located throughout the United States leased primarily to the U.S. Government and several state government tenants. As of June 30, 2009, GOV owned 29 properties with 3.3 million square feet. GOV is headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts.
