NEW YORK (AP) -- Online game maker Zynga Inc. of "FarmVille" fame has signed a licensing deal with Hasbro Inc. to give the toy company the rights to develop toys and games based on its brands.
Zynga, which reports its fourth-quarter earnings next week, makes games for Facebook. Besides "FarmVille," its titles include "CityVille," the Scrabble-like "Words With Friends" and others.
Financial terms of the Hasbro deal were not disclosed, and the companies did not say what types of games would come of it. The companies said they expect the first products to be available in the fall.
"Zynga is bringing more games to mainstream culture and is redefining how people play. At Hasbro, we're proud to help bring their games to even more people around the world," said Brian Goldner, president and CEO of Hasbro, in a statement.
San Francisco-based Zynga's shares fell 44 cents, or 3.2 percent, to $13.25 on Thursday.
Shares of Hasbro Inc., based in Pawtucket, R.I., rose 86 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $36.59.
