Higher jeans prices help lift VF

The apparel and shoe company, whose brands include Nautica, North Face and Seven For All Mankind, earned $2.87 a share in Q3, up 29% from last year and 29 cents above views. VF Corp. (NYSE:VFC - News) got a boost from its Timberland acquisition and said it was able to partially offset higher costs for cotton and other raw materials with higher jeans prices. It raised its implied Q4 guidance to $2.29 per share. Analysts expect $2.40. It also declared a dividend of 72 cents a share, up 14%. Shares climbed 3.2% to 136.99.
