SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 7, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Embark on this carefully written journal that depicts the struggles of two living creations as they go beyond the limits of their physical strengths and conditions. Helen Lewison thoroughly shares her inspiring battle against her illness that made her say If You Can't Walk, Fly beyond the limits and continue life as free as a bird.

In this journal, Lewison imparts to the readers her experience watching a small black pigeon, which she named Yogi, picking at the seeds on the railing, jumping and hopping on one leg. It touched her gentle heart and she felt compassion for the bird. But despite the pigeon's struggle with its one leg, it took a tremendous will power to lift itself off into the air. And while watching the bird being successful, she considers it a very good lesson to employ for herself. If You Can't Walk, Fly into the vastness of life as this book opens the feelings of being lost, of pains, and of confusions she felt during her horrendous stay in the hospital after her surgery. She took Yogi's example to fight and to be victorious in her own battle.

Lewison's If You Can't Walk, Fly is an inspiring book showing that physical limitation is not a tough barrier to stop the brave soul deep inside us to go out and be free, but rather, it's a positive drive to make a difference. Being strong, determined, and hopeful to become triumphant in all the obstacles in life is a very admirable and stirring reality in one's self. Just like the warriors in a battle, their unwavering strength and desire to win gives them the triumph of their lives.

About the Author

Once upon a time, a little girl was born in Waco, Texas. Many years later, she moved to San Francisco, and a whole new world opened to her -- North Beach, poetry readings, coffee houses, and the flotsam and jetsam of wannabe artists, and writers. Life became a colorful canopy she had never envisioned before. This too ended and another life began -- a marriage and the responsibilities associated with marriage, still beautiful, and still colorful, but never as stimulating to the younger fringe beatnik who lived in the enchanted world of San Francisco's North Beach. After her husband died, she began writing books, one after the other. Five books later, she's still writing and has a website, http://www.helenlewison.com.
