SWAN POINT, Md., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- A vintage dollhouse completely renovated by Swan Point residents Sheryl Elliott and her husband Ken Robinson is now being raffled with proceeds being donated to the Wayside Food Bank in nearby Newburg.

"The state of the economy has put additional strains on all food banks in Southern Maryland and this effort can at least help our local Wayside Food Bank," according to Mollyanne Margolis, a Swan Point resident who is coordinating the fundraising effort. "Sheryl and Ken have spent more than a year putting this beautiful dollhouse together and we are so grateful they decided to raffle it off to help Wayside in their time of need," she adds.

The seven room Christmas decorated dollhouse features hand laid "hardwood " floors, a ceramic tiled kitchen and bath, a secret powder room underneath the staircase, silk woven oriental rugs from Turkey, a signed Limoges antique painting, sterling picture wall decor, Moroccan silk lace curtains, a carved ivory Chinese ball-within-a-ball, a hand crocheted lace coverlet, and a hand-made quilt bedcover.

The dollhouse may be viewed until December 12 in the lobby of the clubhouse at the Swan Point Yacht & Country Club. Marketing Director Kim Simonson says, "Swan Point has always been a community that cares and gives back. We thought it was appropriate to open up the clubhouse to display this beautiful dollhouse and promote the great cause it is raising money for."

Sheryl Elliot says she helped her daughter do a similar dollhouse project to raise money for Ethiopian famine relief in 1985. "Creating something of beauty to raise money for a worthy cause is a win-win situation," Elliott says. A project like this galvanizes our community to come together to bring necessary attention to local families in need."

Raffle tickets are only $2 each or 3 for $5.00 and can be purchased in the Swan Point clubhouse or by contacting Mollyanne Margolis at (301) 753-4959.

The Drawing will be held on the evening of December 12th, 2009 at the annual Swan Point Member Christmas Party. The winner (who does not need to be present to win) will also receive an audio CD featuring various versions of "I'll Be Home For Christmas" ranging from Frank Sinatra to the just released Bob Dylan rendition.

For more information on the dollhouse, contact Teri Baker at (202) 338-6400. Media ready photographs can be viewed at www.pvcmedia.net/dollhouse.
