WELLINGTON, Kan. (AP) -- A Kansas review board is examining the only remaining proposal for a state-owned casino south of Wichita.
The Lottery Gaming Facility Review board had a hearing Wednesday on the proposed Chisholm Creek Resort Casino. The $225 million project would be near Mulvane, about 20 miles south of Wichita, in Sumner County.
The board was hearing from the partnership hoping to build and operate the casino for the Kansas Lottery, which owns the new gambling under a 2007 law authorizing a single casino in south-central Kansas. The board also was taking public comments.
The project was proposed initially by Foxwoods Development Co., of St. Louis, and competing applicants have dropped their bids to push the Foxwoods plan. Former competitors include Lakes Entertainment Inc., of Minnetonka, Minn.
