ST. LOUIS (AP) -- LaBarge Inc., which makes electronics for use in military aircraft, said Monday it received a $1.9 million contract from Raytheon Missile Systems to continue to provide complex cable harnesses for the military's Joint Standoff Weapon system.

The Joint Standoff Weapon program is a group of air-to-ground weapons that use global positioning satellite information to guide the weapons to the target. More than 400 of the systems have been used in combat operations, LaBarge said.

LaBarge will perform the work at its Joplin, Mo., facility. Production is expected to begin in October and continue through November 2010.

In afternoon trading, LaBarge shares rose 19 cents to $11.52.
