SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Leap Wireless International Inc., a cell phone company offering flat-rate and prepaid plans, on Tuesday said it has appointed three new directors to its board.
John Chapple, Ronald Kramer and William Roper, Jr. joined the board as of Monday. The board now has eight members.
Chapple, 56, is president of private equity firm Hawkeye Investments LLC and a former CEO of Nextel Partners. Hawkeye invests mainly in telecom and real estate ventures.
Kramer, 51, is CEO of Griffon Corp., a diversified holding company whose businesses include manufacturers of garage doors, specialty plastic films used in products such as baby diapers and maritime surveillance radars for search and rescue, among other uses.
Kramer had been president of casino developer Wynn Resorts Ltd.
Roper, 63, is president of private equity firm Roper Capital Co. and former CEO of VeriSign Inc., an Internet security firm.
Leap shares rose 42 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $13.78 in afternoon trading.
