MORTON GROVE, Ill. (AP) -- Lifeway Foods Inc., known for its Kefir nutrition drink, said Monday that its third-quarter sales surged 38 percent, helped by its Freshmade Dairy acquisition.
The company recorded $15.4 million in revenue for the period ended Sept. 30, up from $11.2 million a year earlier. Freshmade Dairy, which Lifeway purchased in February, contributed about 2.2 million to the quarterly results.
CEO Julie Smolyansky said in a statement that the company will launch several new products in the fourth quarter and will make products available in convenience stores.
Shares of Lifeway Foods added 12 cents to $10.31 in morning trading. Over the past year, the stock has traded in a range of $5.43 to $14.94.
