AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Luminex Corp. on Friday said that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given approval for the company's new cystic fibrosis test.
The test detects for 39 gene mutations that cause cystic fibrosis, the company said. It can be used for diagnosis or to screen potential parents to determine if they are carriers for the disease-causing gene mutations.
Shares of Luminex rose 76 cents to $15.62 in afternoon trading Friday.
