SmartMusic subscriptions total 116,268
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MakeMusic, Inc. (NASDAQ: MMUS - News) today announced monthly subscription results for SmartMusic®, the music learning software for band, orchestra and voice. SmartMusic subscriptions as of August month end numbered 116,268, representing a net gain of 4,707 from the previous month and a 22% increase over the prior year.
SmartMusic GradebookTM, the web-based student grading and records management system included with SmartMusic, showed 481 teachers have issued assignments, a 41% increase over August of last year. Gradebook teachers, those having issued assignments to 50 or more students, totaled 83 at the end of August. This is comparable to 46 Gradebook teachers at the end of August of last year.
Finally, the number of SmartMusic educator accounts was 8,783 compared to 8,572 at the end of July, an increase of 211 accounts.
As of June 30, 2009 the definition of SmartMusic site licenses was slightly modified. In order to continue to qualify for the volume purchase discount, a purchasing entity must have purchased 100 or more subscriptions upon the one-year anniversary of the site license agreement date. If they did not achieve the 100 subscriptions level, they no longer qualify for the discount and the site license is not counted in our reported totals. The effect of these changes represents a slight reduction, but a more accurate count of the monthly total site license numbers. The updated SmartMusic monthly site license totals are shown in the SmartMusic metrics table below.
