EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Dutch charter and cargo airline Martinair has extended its agreement with jet engine manufacturer Pratt & Whitney to continue its engine wash service, Pratt & Whitney said.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners will provide engine wash services for Martinair's fleet of PW4000 engines.
Pratt & Whitney, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp., says its EcoPower engine wash system reduces fuel burn by as much as 1.2 percent, eliminating about three pounds of carbon dioxide emissions for every pound of fuel saved and decreasing engine gas temperature and increasing the amount of time an engine can operate.
Martinair, which is owned by the Air France-KLM group and based in Amsterdam, operates passenger and cargo services to more than 50 international destinations.
