Maya Secures "La Campana" Mining Lots in Mexico

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(MARKET WIRE)--Dec 3, 2008 -- MAYA GOLD AND SILVER INC. (CDNX:MYA.V - News) ("MAYA" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that all documentations for the acquisition of "La Campana" mining lots have been filed at the Mining Public Registry.

The legal advisors of the Company has recently issued a legal opinion confirming the ownership of "La Campana" by Metales de la Sierra, S. de R.L. de C.V ("Metales"), a wholly owned subsidiary of MAYA. "La Campana" covers 80 hectares and encompasses a major epithermal structure with two abandoned artisanal mines. The two old small-scale mines "La Campana" and "Santo Nino" are 140 meters apart.

Significant gold and silver values were obtained from walls and pillars of "La Campana" galleries and also from Santo Nino top of the hill where the galleries break through on strike 57 meters higher.

Recent assaying from samples picked from "La Campana" west wall returned: 16.7 g/t-Au and 626 g/t-Ag over 0.7 meters, meanwhile assaying from "La Campana" east wall returned: 4.18 g/t-Au and 291 g/t-Ag over 4.0 meters. Finally, Santo Nino composite from tailing dump assays returned: 41.7 g/t-Au and 704 g/t-Ag.

Metales had previously obtained the adjacent groups of claims "El Sacrificio", "Santa Rita" and "Sacrifio Ampliacion" in the State of Sinaloa and Durango. MAYA presently owned rights on claims totalling 64 square kilometres (6362 hectares) until December 14th 2039.

Luc Lamarche, P. Geol., is the Company's qualified person for the Baluarte project under the definition of National Instrument 43-101. Mr Lamarche is responsible for the current exploration program and the preparation of all technical information provided in this release.

Samples are shipped to a preparation laboratory in Hermosillo, Mexico and sent by air freight to Acme Laboratory in Vancouver for assaying. Systematic assaying of standards and blanks was performed for precision and accuracy.
