Monro Muffler shares rise on S&P listing

Shares of Monro Muffler hit 52-week high after stock added to S&P SmallCap 600

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Monro Muffler Brake Inc. got a boost Wednesday after the auto repair chain was added to the Standard & Poor's SmallCap 600 index.

In heavy morning trading, Monro shares rose $1.07, or 3.4 percent, to $32.37, after peaking at $32.70 earlier in the day and matching its previous 52-week high.

The Rochester, N.Y.-based company replaces Atmos Energy Corp., a natural gas distribution, transmission and storage company, which is moving to the S&P MidCap 400.
