LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MySpace, the world’s premier social network, and Endemol, a world leader in entertainment programming, today announced an exclusive partnership to debut a new reality web series, “Get Married on MySpace.” The interactive online series will allow one lucky couple to receive the wedding of their dreams in exchange for letting the MySpace community plan and experience their big day first hand.
“The concept of empowering the worldwide MySpace audience to plan the most important and perhaps stressful day of one couple’s lives makes for great reality programming,” said, Jason Kirk, VP of Video and Entertainment for MySpace. “Endemol and MySpace will offer fans of Get Married on MySpace the ability to get involved and stay connected to the series, the bride and groom, and each other, in a way that no other reality series has ever done before."
The interactive nature of Get Married on MySpace enables MySpace users to influence almost every step and detail of the wedding from casting the couple, selecting the bride’s dress, choosing the couple’s rings, and picking the wedding location, through an ongoing voting system. The series, consisting of 13 webisodes, will conclude with a live wedding ceremony where the key details chosen by the MySpace community will be revealed.
“The interactive viewing experience has truly transformed entertainment as we know it, and we at Endemol are proud to be at the forefront of this trend,” said Joerg Bachmaier, Senior Vice President of Digital Media and Business Development at Endemol USA. “We are thrilled to partner with MySpace to deliver this unique format to the digital space.”
Get Married on MySpace also creates numerous organic integration opportunities for advertisers to incorporate their brands into the series. The MySpace Video channel (http://vids.myspace.com) and series profile page will spotlight a variety of exclusive series content including profiles of the wedding party, behind-the-scenes video footage, and vlogs from the bride and groom chronicling all the highs and lows that come along with planning a wedding.
Engaged couples looking to Get Married on MySpace can submit entry videos to the series’ official profile starting in March. MySpace users will then vote on the finalists to cast the bride and groom. The series will debut on MySpace in May with the announcement of the chosen couple and conclude in early August. Each week the MySpace community will vote on two key wedding details leading up to the big day.
MySpace also announced today the relaunch of the MySpace Video channel, formerly MySpaceTV, to provide users with a more relevant and streamlined viewing experience. The new Video interface makes it easier to navigate content, includes a larger player, increased search placements, greater sharing functionality, and new advertising opportunities including the ability to take over the MySpace Video home page.
