Two unfair-trade probes launched

The U.S. Int'l Trade Commission backed 2 Commerce Dept. investigations into charges of unfair-trade practices by China and Indonesia, days ahead of Pres. Obama's trip to Asia. The charges focus on allegations that companies from the 2 countries are selling coated paper used for magazines and greeting cards at unfairly low prices.

La. Assistant AG David Caldwell said investigators are searching the New Orleans offices of activist group Acorn in connection with embezzlement and tax fraud allegations made last year by Acorn board members who were fired after they asked to look at the group's books. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it is making progress in improving the supply of H1N1 vaccine to state health departments and urged people frustrated by long lines and scarce supply not to give up.
