National home equity loan averages

Here's a look at the state of interest rates on five common consumer banking products and the latest rates from Bankrate.com's weekly national survey of large banks and thrifts conducted Oct. 28, 2009.

Home Equity

Rate: 5.63 percent (line of credit); 8.06 percent (loan)

Rates on home equity products jumped this week, with loans and lines of credit registering their biggest weekly rises since early March.

The average home equity line of credit, or HELOC, jumped 8 basis points, to 5.63 percent. Home equity loan rates rose 6 basis points, to 8.06 percent.
