Call for Entries Opens Today and Runs Through February 13, 2009
NEW YORK, NY--(MARKET WIRE)--Dec 2, 2008 -- Video conferencing has experienced rapid growth in recent years with organizations implementing video in new environments and for innovative applications. Children in the Great Plains are taking virtual field trips to swim with sharks and explore the Great Barrier Reef; manufacturers are eliminating travel while still streamlining operations and speeding their supply chain; first responders are providing real-time public safety responses during crises; and medical specialists are saving lives in urban and rural hospitals miles away. These exciting uses of video are opening a host of new opportunities and changing the way people work, learn and communicate.
TANDBERG®, the leading provider of telepresence, high-definition (HD) video conferencing and mobile video solutions, today announced the Call for Entries for the first-ever Video Champion Awards (http://www.tandberg.com/videochampionawards), giving companies and organizations across the U.S. and Canada the opportunity to creatively showcase their applications and achievements in the use of video communications.
The Video Champion Awards will honor organizations that are demonstrating positive impact and influence in video communications. Entrants will be awarded for innovations that break through conventional processes and highlight new ways of using video communications to help organizations, teams or individuals achieve their goals.
Reviewed and selected by an independent panel of judges comprised of video conferencing industry experts, five category winners will be invited to the TANDBERG Awards Gala held in conjunction with VoiceCon 2009 in Orlando (March 30-April 2, 2009). An overall "Video Champion of the Year" will be awarded to the winner from the five categories with the best approach to achieving distinctive results through the use of video.
Winners will receive a free trip for two, for two nights in Orlando -- including airfare & lodging at the Gaylord Palms Hotel -- for the TANDBERG Video Champion Awards Dinner, plus a $250 cash prize. In addition, their winning video submission will be featured prominently on the TANDBERG Web site.
The Call for Entries period will run from December 2, 2008 through February 13, 2009. Entries must be in the form of a video not to exceed two minutes; creativity is encouraged. For more information about TANDBERG's Video Champion Awards including rules, regulations and directions for submitting your entry, visit http://www.tandberg.com/videochampionawards. Video submissions will be highlighted on the Video Champion Awards channel on YouTube(TM) at http://www.youtube.com/user/VideoChampionAwards.
Open to all companies and organizations currently utilizing video communications in the U.S. and Canada, winners will be chosen from the video submissions illustrating the best use of video in the following categories:
-- Business innovation -- Environmental impact -- Telework -- Education/training -- Work/life balance
"The use of video is integral to staying connected in the current economic environment where travel is cost prohibitive. As a result, people, companies and organizations are breaking new ground with innovative applications for video communications," said Rick Snyder, president of Americas, TANDBERG. "We are passionate about the potential of video communications to unite people and organizations, and the Video Champion Awards honor those who share our enthusiasm. We are constantly amazed at the ingenuity of video conferencing users."
