HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J., Aug. 14, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nymox Pharmaceutical Corporation (Nasdaq:NYMX - News) announced today its financial results for the second quarter of 2009. Nymox reported a net loss of $1,220,152, or $0.04 per share for the quarter and $2,224,411, or $0.07 per share for the six months ending June 30, 2009, compared to $1,048,780, or $0.04 per share for the quarter and $2,395,895, or $0.08 per share for the six months ending June 30, 2008. Net losses include stock compensation charges for the quarter of $248,886 in 2009 and $204,680 in 2008 and for the period of $558,536 in 2009 and $409,360 in 2008. The increase of the net loss for the quarter is mainly attributable to expenses relating to the launch of Phase 3 clinical trials for NX-1207. The decrease in net losses for the six month period is attributable to reduced general and administrative expenditures compared to 2008. Product sales amounted to $80,341 for the quarter and $176,567 for the six months ending June 30, 2009, compared to $120,194 and $224,678 for the same periods in 2008 due to a decrease in sales attributable to the current economic slowdown. The weighted average number of common shares outstanding for the six months ended June 30, 2009 was 30,412,501 compared to 29,560,350 for the same period in 2008.
