Orient-Express Hotels promotes Filip Boyen to COO, names Gesue as VP of real estate

NEW YORK (AP) -- Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. said Thursday that it promoted Filip Boyen to the newly created role of chief operating officer.

Boyen, 51, previously served as vice president of operations. He also will take over responsibility for Asian hotels, trains and cruises when Chief Development Officer Nick Varian retires at the end of the year.

Orient-Express also promoted Director of Global Real Estate Phillip Gesue, 39, to the newly created role of vice president of real estate.

Orient-Express owns all or part of 50 hotel, restaurant, train and river cruise properties.

The company's stock gained 81 cents, or 7.8 percent, to $11.15 in morning trading. The shares have traded in a range of $2.64 to $38 over the last year.
