ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--More than 100 Habitat for Humanity affiliates, national organizations and corporate partners are joining forces to build houses in Asia as sponsors of Habitat’s 26th annual Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project. With the help of these Habitat corporate partners and affiliates, 166 homes will be built or repaired, Nov. 15-20, during the annual event.

“We appreciate the contributions our corporate partners extend year after year to help hundreds of families secure safe, decent and affordable housing through the Carter Work Project,” said Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International. “This year, a large number of Habitat affiliates from around the world are also demonstrating their heart for our global mission by committing funds and sending volunteer teams to support the project.”

Habitat’s Carter Work Project partner sponsors will support the construction or repair of homes in Thailand, Vietnam, China, Cambodia and Laos – all countries that border the Mekong River. In addition to the financial support, many of the Carter Work Project partners are sending employee volunteers to the region.

Since 1984, President and Mrs. Carter have faithfully given one week of their time raising awareness and building homes through the Carter Work Project. The Mekong Build marks the fourth time the internationally-recognized week of building has been in the region. Previous Carter Work Projects in Asia have been held in the Philippines, South Korea and India.
